Los Gatos Ballet’s curriculum is unique in its progressive approach. Our syllabus selects the best principals of dance training by incorporating Vaganova, French and American School methods. Through our program, dancers build a strong foundation of anatomy, musicality, technique and artistry. This healthy progression allows our students to develop an advanced level of control and mastery as they are challenged in their physical, mental, and emotional development. Our staff continues to refine and advance our program to provide quality training at every level. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment and we pattern excellence.
All new students are required to take a Placement Class.
Placement class is $18, which is waived if student enrolls.
There is an Annual Registration Fee due at the time of enrollment.
Enrollment is for the school year (August to June).
It is the expectation that all enrolled students do not take ballet at any other dance school in order to stay consistent with our program, messaging and methodology.
Our Pre-Ballet Division offers an introduction to ballet for ages 4 to 6 years. We focus on the beginning development of ballet concepts, including spatial awareness, creative thinking, rhythm and fun! It's a great way to become familiarized with a studio environment, working on active listening, following instructions, and structured play.
Our curriculum for the Lower to Upper Divisions is based on a 2-year syllabus. As the student's physical, emotional and mental abilities develop, their class time and frequency increases. This gradual progression allows for each dancer to develop a greater understanding of alignment, coordination, control, centering (mind & body) and precision. Emotional maturity and mental stamina also are developed along the way in order to tailor success. Students will be promoted according to their progress and ability, rather than grade and age alone. As we seek to empower and support each dancer on the path of excellence, we promote goal setting, character development and mindfulness. Formal Evaluations with parent, teacher and student are conducted for Levels 3 to 8 at end of the spring term to discuss progress and goals for the upcoming season.
As ballet is a performing art, it is essential for all dancers in our graded levels to participate in our annual productions. Participation offers growth opportunities, artistically, technically and emotionally both individually and as a team.
