In the words of Pablo Picasso, “It begins with an idea, and then it becomes something else.” The genesis of any body of work has to start somewhere. But once the choreographer establishes the idea, then what? How is that idea translated through dance? This was the springboard for Creator Lab. LGB’s Artistic Director, Kristin D’Addario developed this workshop in 2021 to support young artists through the choreographic process. In 2022, Creator Lab expanded to offer guidance to the younger creative, ages 10 to 13. Los Gatos Ballet then invited TRIBE Dance to collaborate and offer their incredible choreographic expertise to our community the next year. Kristin now continues to share the elements of this innovative workshop through her mentorship during BEYOND and as part of the curriculum at LGB’s Summer Intensives. We are designed to be creative – it’s a matter of discovering the tools and then simply getting curious!
